Scripture: Matthew 16:24-25
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If you truly want to follow me, you should at once completely reject and disown your own life. And you must be willing to share my cross and experience it as your own, as you continually surrender to my ways. For if you choose self-sacrifice and lose your lives for my glory, you will continually discover true life. But if you choose to keep your lives for yourselves, you will forfeit what you try to keep.

Hands up.
Head up.
Eyes closed.
Bent knees.
Raise the white flag.
This is the posture of the surrendered heart.
The realization that we absolutely cannot control an outcome is one of the most vulnerable positions of the human experience.
Yet that’s exactly what is expected of us.
It’s exactly how the things of life work.
We need to live purposefully.
We must push towards a goal.
But the results of our efforts are not certain.
Choices are ours.
Outcomes are His.
And the faster we learn to detach from those outcomes, the sooner we regain our peace.
Because each outcome is necessary for our next step.
Every win and every disappointment is for our good.
So we do well, oh so very well, when we learn to simply surrender.
Hands up.
Head up.
Eyes closed.
Bent knees.
Raise the white flag.
That’s exactly where God desires us to be…
So His miracles can gently, but certainly, unfold.
Journal Prompt: What area do you need to practice more surrender in? With your children? With your marriage? With your business? Write it down in your journal as a prayer to God.
